Chalet Jaillet sits directly on the Le Jaillet slopes, on route du Coin. You step into your skis at the door in the morning and ski back to it at the end of the day — no car, no shuttle, no carrying skis. Very few addresses in Megève allow that, and fewer still across 400 m² sleeping thirteen.

The living spaces. The kitchen opens onto the living room: a five-ring gas hob, two large ovens one above the other, a dishwasher, a separate freezer and two full-size fridges — one in the kitchen, one in the basement, which makes all the difference with a full house. There is also a kettle, toaster, blender, waffle iron and both raclette and fondue sets. The dining room runs on from the kitchen and the sitting room seats ten. A games room and two televisions complete the shared spaces.

The bedrooms. The chalet has five bedrooms, three of them en-suite. All open onto a balcony or outdoor access and have storage: three have a 180 × 200 cm king bed, and one of the double rooms has a third bed that pulls out from beneath one of the others. In addition, the lower level holds a further bedroom with its own shower, used occasionally for guests.

The bathrooms. Four bathrooms serve the chalet, one of them with a bathtub and twin basins. All have a heated towel rail and three have a hairdryer. A separate WC completes the arrangement.

Day-to-day comfort. Heating combines electric radiators with underfloor heating, adjustable room by room, and hot water comes from two boilers. A utility room holds the washing machine, tumble dryer, drying rack, iron and ironing board. Wi-Fi covers the chalet, which has an alarm, a smoke detector and a fire extinguisher.

Outside. Some 200 m² of garden, terrace, courtyard and balconies, furnished with a long table, a bench, chairs, two parasols and two deckchairs, with a barbecue and children's play equipment. There are four parking spaces, two of them in a closed garage, and a ski room in the basement reached directly from the garage. The garage is generous enough to take bikes easily in summer.

The centre of Megève, its shops and restaurants are under a kilometre away. Monthly lets are possible in low season. Non-smoking; no pets; no parties or events. The chalet is not suitable for guests with reduced mobility.

What we love: being genuinely on the piste, with the space and the layout to bring a large family — or two families — together for a whole season.
